On Tuesday, February 20 th the Mississauga Economic Development Office worked with Canadian manufacturers and exporters for the inaugural Mississauga production day. There were nearly 200 students from a number of Southern Ontario colleges and universities participating. In the morning, students traveled through factories in Mississauga, including those in the aerospace, automotive / transport and life sciences sectors.
In the afternoon, students had the opportunity to network directly with Mississauga manufacturing companies who are looking to hire for numerous positions in advanced production. I was very grateful for the opportunity to talk with the students about the current and future career opportunities in advanced production in Mississauga.
Thanks to our participating companies including Magellan Aerospace, Pirlitor Machine & Tool, Cyclone Manufacturing, Matcor Metal Fabrication, Prevost Volvo, Baylis Medical and Ingram Micro. Also for our partner Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters for their work on this very successful event.
I am looking forward to the 6 March 1945 Mississauga Advanced Manufacturing Day event, where we may do this again with secondary school students from the Peel District and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Boards.
