Mountain Equipment Co-op has officially broken ties with an American manufacturer of bicycle helmets, glasses, camping gear, water bottles and – oh yeah, guns – amid increasing pressure from members of its outdoor lifestyle community.
Vista Outdoor, which has dozens of popular sports equipment brands, has spent a lot of heat in recent weeks after the lethal shootings of 17 students at a high school in Parkland, Florida.
The controversy stems from a series of tweets and blog posts in which Vista was unveiled to have strong financial ties with the NRA and, perhaps more importantly, that it is one of America's largest arms manufacturers .
A very responsible decision. Nobody is anti-weapons. We are all anti-weapons that are used to kill innocent people. Until the American firearms lobby becomes more responsible, the only way to bring about change is to put them in the wallet. I support you. Thanks.

Proponents of arms control have called stores selling goods produced by the non-weapon-related brands of the Utah-based company, including Giro, Camp Chef, Razkulls, Bushnell and Bollé, to immediately stop ordering at Vista.
