This spring Peel offers free tax preparation services for low-income residents.
Free tax clinics are held on Saturday from March 3 to April 28. The clinics are for people with an income up to $ 30,000, or families with an income up to $ 47,500. The income threshold depends on the family size.
Other civil society organizations throughout Peel also hold similar programs. The programs are listed on the website of the Canada Revenue Agency www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/vlntr/clncs/on-eng.html. The Human Services department of the Peel region cooperates with Chartered Professional Accountants from Ontario to offer this free assistance with tax preparation. The program, which has been offered for 14 years, has enabled more than 2,500 returns in 2017.
The service is only available by appointment. Advance registration is required. Visit for data and locations of clinics http://www.peelregion.ca/help/free-income-tax-clinics.asp. People will be informed about what kind of documents they have to take with them when they book an appointment.
Prosper Canada, a national charitable organization dedicated to increasing economic opportunities for Canadians living in poverty, estimates that each year more than $ 1 billion in income benefits and tax credits targeting the needs of the most vulnerable in Canada never in their wallets.
