Schil Regional police say they do a search after a young girl was sexually assaulted by an unknown suspect on Saturday morning.
Researchers say that the girl slept 7 hours in her bedroom on Saturday morning. at home in the Hartfield Grove and Lovelady Crescent area, near Rathburn Road East and Dixie Road.
The police said the girl "woke up to a man in her bedroom" who sexually abused her before she fled the house.
The girl, whom the police say is under the age of 13, was taken to a hospital in Toronto to undergo a medical assessment.
The suspect is described as a white man, about 20-years old.
Police say they are not sure if the suspect was known to the victim, but they now treat the suspect as a "stranger".
"It is very disturbing," local resident Sally Jones-Clark told CP24. "We have been here for more than 25 years and something like that has never happened."
Researchers said that several relatives of the victim were at home at the time of the alleged incident.
Officers have a command post nearby to help them in a cloth and search for evidence.
